News from the PlayStation 4 Launch Event

It’s official, the PlayStation 4 is now available, in North America that is, Sony even hosted a launch event at The Standard, High Line hotel in New York City to celebrate it.

The event was presented by SpikeTV on their All Access special coverage, hundreds of players lined up since yesterday to get their hands on the next generation console as Sony will be selling 444 PlayStation 4 consoles at the Launch Event without the need to preorder.

And of course the event won’t be complete without any special announcements and world premiere of new trailers of upcoming PS4 games. First on the announcement was from Naughty Dog where they revealed the upcoming DLC for their latest hit video game The Last of Us; the Left Behind DLC will be a prequel story featuring Ellie and new character Riley Able, who was introduced from the Dark Horse comic The Last of Us: American Dreams.

 

They also revealed for the first time the new Uncharted game for the PS4, no details were mentioned about the game especially if Nathan Drake will still be the protagonist

 

Next to announce was Sucker Punch, for their newest trailer for Infamous: Second Son, which will be available on March 21

 

Bungie also premiered their latest trailer for Destiny, and PlayStation gamers will rejoice as the Beta test for Destiny will be exclusively available first to the PS3 and PS4 users, the game will be available on 2014, no details were announced on the schedule of the beta test.

 

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes discussed about the upcoming titles in development for the next gen console, especially on third party developers, one game which was originally for the Ouya, Towerfall will be available for the PS4 as Towerfall Ascension with 50 more levels. The two also mentioned that their 1st party developers are preparing new franchises and also continue to create more for their current big franchises, they even briefly mentioned about The Last Guardian, which was announced a few years ago for the PS3 and still no new info about it, there are hints that the game will be released for the PS4.

Hideo Kojima also made an announcement for his upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes game, an exclusive Deja Vu mission will be available only for the PlayStation 3 and 4 where you can play as the Classic Solid Snake, all in his PSOne graphic glory. Ground Zeroes will be available in Spring of 2014.

 

Before they conclude the special event, Sony presented a special video to teaser for some of the upcoming games for the next gen console, some of these include Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Watchdogs, Blacklight Retribution, DriveClub plus many more.

 

And that’s the end of the Launch Event, we’ll get more info on the games in the coming days as well as some impressions on the PlayStation 4.
