The hype is real for Pokemon GO here in the Philippines.

As one of the countries whose players are very much anticipating the release of the mobile phenomenon, Pokemon GO, it is expected that numerous reactions  from different communities will stem out, such as government agencies reminding everyone of to stay safe while exploring the streets in search of Pokemon.

But perhaps some of the most notable reactions came from Filipino entrepreneurs as business establishments rode on the hype with different promotions and even new business ventures are concocted in celebration of the game’s Philippine release.

Chooks to Go’s #IChooksYou

Chooks to Go was among the first to ride on the Pokemon GO craze through their custom ad back in July which was entitled “I Chooks You”. Although there was no actual Pokemon GO-related promotion ongoing back then as the game was not yet out in the country, Chooks to Go’s I Chooks You gave a clear premise that the Entre-Pinoy will definitely not be left out when it comes to Pokemon GO.

LBC and I got-chu

Looking to have your packaged delivered? LBC got-Chu fam as the courier service launches their custom ad inspired by the handheld phenomenon. Just like Chook’s to Go’s “I Chooks You” though, LBC will not be having any special Pokemon GO related promotion back when the ad was made as it was posted during early July, 2016.

Smart and Globe’s Free Pokemon GO Data 

The telco giants takes their war to Niantic’s new mobile title as both of them almost instantaneously offered free data usage for Pokemon GO usage during the game’s release.

Smart Telecommunications was first to announce their 7-day free Pokemon GO data promo for Filipino players which includes Postpaid, Prepaid and Broadband subscribers, running until August 12, 2016. Be reminded however, that even though the Free Data promotion covers playing the game, standard data charges will still apply when downloading the game from the App Store.

Globe also revealed their own free Pokemon GO data promo minutes after Smart announced their, although a limited only to 300 MB for a week, and will only be available to Android users on Prepaid. Players will also have to download Pokemon GO using Globe’s Globe Switch app store.

Perhaps the country’s largest chain of Malls and Supermarkets, SM Supermalls is not to be left out of the Pokemon GO craze after finding out that 51 of their 57 mall branches are listed as either a PokeStop or a Pokemon Gym. Starting the promotion during the game’s release and running for a limited time only, #GottaCatchThemAllAtSM rewards players who are able to catch Pokemon within the vicinity of SM Supermalls with PHP 3,000 worth of shopping money. Players will need to post screenshots of their captured Pokemon using Instagram and Twitter while only selected Trainers will be given the chance to take home the prize.

Robinsons #CatchThemAllAtRobinsonsMalls

Robinsons Malls is not to be left out in the Pokemon GO craze as the mall chain have also hosted their own Pokemon GO promo. Robinsons hosted a Pokemon hunt last Monday which awards PHP 1,000 worth of Gift Certificates to lucky trainers who caught Pokemon within the malls premises. A next batch for the Pokemon Hunt will also be taking place, but this time will look to pit Teams Mystic, Valor and Instinct against one another in a mall-wide Pokemon hunt. Just like SM Supermalls, some Robinsons Mall branches are also listed PokeStops.

Victoria Court’s ‪#‎GottaCatchEmAllatVC

Okay, now this maybe weird, everyone knows or at least has hints about what’s going on behind the walls of Victoria Court’s  hotels but hey, we really can’t say anything really wrong with their business and in fact they might just see a spike in Poke-hunters with their #GottaCatchThemAllAtVC. Trainers will have the chance of a free overnight stay at a Victoria Court Hotel just by, you guessed it, catching a Pokemon at any Victoria Court property and sharing it on social media. So far, Victoria Court has the longest promotion period related to Pokemon GO as it runs from August 8 to September 8, 2016.

Get on a road trip to catch Pokemon with Poke Tour Manila

Catching Pokemon on the road while driving or commuting has been the talk of the down to help avoid the country’s tropical heat and the ongoing rainy season. It has been talked about so much that a new carpooling service aimed at touring trainers in Metro Manila in search of Pokemon has been born and that is the Poke Tour Manila. Starting at its PHP 1,999 package, trainers are treated to a 4 hour Poke Tour with unlimited Poke Stops, free candies, and WiFi access around Metro Manila, specifically Makati City, Bonifacio Global City Taguig, San Juan City, Mandaluyong City and Quezon City.
