When Rock Goes Lounge

We commonly see rock music turned into acoustic music, or sometimes remixed into a techno music. But how about turning it into lounge music. That’s right folks, lounge music, music that made Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Tony Bennett famous.

But turning rock music into lounge music doesn’t seem right, well one band made it sound good

Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine is a cover band and comedy act based in Los Angeles, California. Lounge singer Richard Cheese performs popular rock, rap, heavy metal, and pop songs in a swanky lounge music swing band style reminiscent of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Tony Bennett. The band’s name Lounge Against The Machine is a parody of the band name Rage Against the Machine.

The band specializes in playing lounge-style covers of recent popular rock, metal, rap and hip hop songs, sung in a croony traditional pop vocal style, contrasting an elegant jazz treatment of the music with often profane and ribald lyrics to create a humorous dissonance.

Bobby Ricotta (Noel Melanio): piano and keyboards
Frank Feta (Brian Fishler): drums and percussion

Here’s a sample of one of the rock music they turned into lounge music.
some of the tone of Richard Cheese’s version may be different from the original songs, but if you know the lyrics, you’ll easily recognize the songs.

Note: I posted the original versions with Rockband/Guitar Hero gameplay vids as some of the original videos have disabled embeded codes, and it’s hard to post it on my blog)
