The groundbreaking art exhibit Legends & Villains returns with a new collection

of fine art pieces this September and October.  “Legends & Villains 2” showcases thirty-four new works by contemporary Filipino artists inspired by the pop culture phenomenon of fictional superheroes and super villains.

While traditional fine art’s subject matter are images from an idyllic past such as still life, pastoral scenes, landscapes, nudes and portraits, this time comic books, graphic novels and their high-profile translation into Hollywood films have become the source material for this new touring art show.

“Legends & Villains 2” will begin its tour at The Annex in SM City North Edsa from Sept. 13-19, continue at SM Aura Premier in Taguig City from September 20-26 then on to SM Mall of Asia from September 27-October 2, move to SM Megamall from October 4-10 and culminate at The Podium in Mandaluyong City from October 11-19.

The artists who created these artworks belong to the current crop of painters and

visualizers who have added a twist to their interpretations of their favorite superheroes and villains, in effect elevating fan art to fine art through the use of oil, acrylic or mixed media on canvas surfaces.
