One of the first and longest running MMORPG in the country, finally draws its final curtain.

Level Up! Games has announced that they will be shutting down local operations for Ragnarok Online in the Philippines. A notice was posted on their official website stating on the shut down.

Here is an excerpt from the announcement in the website:

To our beloved pRO community,

Since the launch of the game in 2003, many of you have been with us. Together, we’ve accomplished countless milestones and overcame hurdles. We weren’t just a random group of gamers, we are family and friends. And to all of us, Ragnarok was never just a game – it was our second home; a place where we discovered many things about ourselves and about the friends we met and have come to love.

And for these reasons, we find it difficult to share the heartbreaking news that Ragnarok Online will be concluding its local PH service on March 31, 2015. Please know that if we had any other choice, we would have wanted to keep going. Unfortunately, it seems our journey has now come to its end.

Thus, we wish to take this opportunity to thank you all for the support you’ve given us through the years. It’s been our great pleasure and honor in serving every one of you.

A migration program will be planned for those who want to continue to play the game in the international server. A new server will be launch on April to cater those who opted to move to the international server.

Ragnarok Online was launched in 2003 that made a massive shock wave in the country, sparking the dawn of a new trend to the gamers both young and old. This also brought Level Up! Games to the top where it also brought new games to the market every year.

Thank you for the memories, Ragnarok Online PH

This is indeed a sad news. I had been one of the first players of Ragnarok when it launched in 2003 but ended playing it two years after. I remember buying prepaid cards to play the game and then it became free to play. Perhaps what made me decide to stop is the graphics which I enjoyed in the new game I played. Farewell pRO and thanks for starting the wave of MMO in PH.

You forgot the news that the local publisher of one of the Philippines’ longest-serving MMOs has plans to migrate its accounts to the international RO servers hosted by game creator Gravity (under the WarpPortal brand).

Hi, if you read the article, it already mentioned the migration plans to IRO (not only specified the exact name)
