Propaganda Art Exhibit Event Aftermath

We had a chance to visit a museum where they utilized digital technology on traditional art.

Last February, we were invited to visit the Lopez Museum and Library which they are promoting their latest exhibit called Propaganda. This exhibit was in partnership with Samsung Philippines and this was created in honor of the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II

It featured some works that were used as propaganda materials during World War II and also other historical events such as the Philippines Revolution during the Spanish colonization and the 1986 EDSA Revolution.

One of the interesting feature at the exhibit is the use of Augmented Reality and ebooks applications in selected sections. Some paintings and posters can unlock some AR features by using any of the Samsung tablets installed near the selected paintings while some tablets have digital copies of old books where visitors can read the old scriptures without the risk of exposing the very old and fragile books to harmful elements.

It’s a unique blend of art and technology and hopefully this kind of approach would encourage more people to visit art exhibits and museums.
