Nintendo fans rejoice as more marquee game titles from Nintendo are now available in the new 3DS Virtual Console. The 3 title lineup, ported from the Super NES and GBA platforms, include Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest is now available at the 3DS eShop, although sad to say that only owners of the new 3DS would be able to purchase and play the game through the virtual console.

All of the 3 newly ported games have made their mark someway, somehow among gamers, with the Link to the Past being one of the most recognizable Zelda game and Super Metroid helping spawn a new type of gameplay subgenre dubbed “Metroidvania” (together with Castlevania: Symphony of the Night) which features much of the sidescrolling action together with a  “large interconnected world map the player can explore, but access to parts of the world is limited by doors or other portals that can only be opened after the player has acquired special tools, weapons or abilities within the game”.

All 3 games are now available in the 3DS eShop for the new Nintendo 3DS and is individually priced at $7.99.
