What’s inside may surprise you!

This week will open up yet another attempt at a video game film adaptation through the way of one of the world’s most biggest franchises, Blizzard’s WarCraft. Started off as a Real Time Strategy game for the PC, WarCraft grew to become one of the most easily recognizable and widely played video game titles that spawned a lot of copycats, not only because of its gameplay, but also because of its deep lore that encompasses the whole universe of WarCraft, from its beginning to the inevitable end.

In addition to its RTS roots, the franchise has ventured into the world of MMORPG through the way of World of WarCraft, and at once had a peak subscriber count of 12 Million players worldwide. Now finally, Blizzard, together with Legendary Films has decided to bring WarCraft to the big screen, a decision that has been the talk of the town roughly a decade ago, and an adaptation that its fans are eagerly waiting for.

Now before you line up for your ticket and get into the darkened cinema to watch the upcoming WarCraft movie adaptation, here’s a few important thing that you need to know, a to help set your expectations for the upcoming Movie.

5. It will be largely based on the first WarCraft Game

Most Filipinos have learned the existence of WarCraft through the third installment of the RTS line, which is WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos, and its Expansion, The Frozen Throne, that being said people may expect the large variety of races that populate the lands of Azeroth, aside from the Orcs and Humans, such as Night and Blood Elves, Trolls, Ogres, the Draenei, Gnomes, Dwarves and even Goblins. However, with the first movie exploring the first entry of Orcs in the lands of Azeroth through the way of the Dark Portal, the movie will be largely based on the first game of the RTS Series, which is WarCraft: Orcs and Humans, we may not be able to see this huge variety of races and characters, saved for maybe a few Dwarves and Trolls. Also, since the first movie is based on the first RTS title of the WarCraft series, characters that many of us has known and loved from WarCraft III such as Tyrande Whisperwind, Malfurion Stormrage, Illidan Stormrage, Kael Thas Sunstrider, Gromm Hellscream, Muradin Bronzebeard, Arthas Menethil and the like will most likely be largely absent, except for a baby Thrall, future Warchief of the Horde, which was shown in one of the trailers and Muradin’s father, Magni Bronzebeard which is portrayed by Michael Adamthwaite.

Hands up if you had a copy of this, additional points if you’re able to play this as a child.

4. It is a first in a series of Movies based on WarCraft

Aptly called The Beginning, and also based on the first game, WarCraft is looking more to become a series of movies on itself, should the first movie become a hit in the box office. As it was known for its extensive lore, there is more to WarCraft than just a war between the Horde and the Alliance as both factions also battle out external forces that wish to subdue or destroy Azeroth such as the Burning Legion, and the Undead Scourge. Other than the stories of the races that are part of the general conflict, elements from the events that transpired in the WarCraft universe may also be considered in the upcoming sequels such as the corruption of Sargeras and the Origins of the Burning Legion, the Sundering of Azeroth and the foundation of the Naga, and of course, the plot of the succeeding WarCraft games (Tides of Darkness, Beyond the Dark Portal, Reign of Chaos, The Frozen Throne). It is good to note though, that even if the upcoming WarCraft film is called The Beginning we are still yet to hear from both Legendary and Blizzard if there are any plans for a sequel or sequels as to fully bring the lore of WarCraft to the big screen.

3. There will be a lot of CGI and that is OKAY

One of the things that critics are first to point out during the release of the trailers is the huge amount of CGI being incorporated in the making of the WarCraft movie, which is perhaps even a lot more than other Fantasy Film franchises such as Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings combined, but what they did not point out though is how the universe of WarCraft is depicted, and just how sensible it is for the ton of CGI to be incorporated into the movie. With locations that will be very hard to film using only practical special effects, as well as the character designs for its diverse race, WarCraft will surely look to be more of a near-CGI animated film rendered in very high detail to make computer generated images to look like actual human actors. Instead of focusing on the level of computer generated effects that the movie will have, filmgoers that will watch WarCraft should instead put their attention to how the film’s plot is related from the original lore of the game titles, in which a lot of video-game-to-movie-adaptations seem to have not succeeded in doing.

Believe us, that is still a human actor that you see right there.

Why does this say “Filipino Viewers?”
Are Filipinos notoriously stupid about these things? I belong to the generation who was able to play the first Warcraft game on my Pentium PC. And things cited here are have nothing to do with Filipino viewers, cause it’s just common sense. Having to specifically target a race of people about this is demeaning. How about “things to keep in mind if you’re going to watch warcraft?”

And dude, don’t put spending hours with your girlfriend in your description. You don’t need to prove to everyone you have a girlfriend. It’s just normal to have one. actually the normal thing is, you hide from your girlfriend so you can fuck some other chick you just met.

Uh, IDK brah, because from what I know this site is based on the Philippines and is catered towards the gen-y audience who only knew WarCraft when Dora existed? And you seem to be single enough to be triggered by someone with a girlfriend l.
