Topping the list in overall revenue is Blizzard’s Overwatch who reportedly had a whooping USD 296 Million earn from both its PC and Console releases, leaving the competing title, Battleborn which only earned USD 18 Million. While failing a bit in popularity with the release of Overwatch, Tencent’s League of Legends still continues to be the top grosser among Free-to-Play PC MMO titles followed by the Eastern popular Online FPS, CrossFire, while World of Warcraft is still holding on to their shaky top spot in the Subscription-Based PC MMO field after the categories USD 200 Million decline.

Aside from in-game purchases, Esports also contributes to the continuing growth of League Legends

The console field will have this month’s top grossing title through the form of Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End which earned USD 56 Million for May 2016. Being the finale to the Uncharted series, and one of the franchise’s most awaited title, Uncharted 4 was able to surpass Call of Duty Black Ops III , FIFA 16, and even Tom Clancy’s: The Division on the Console field, while Overwatch‘s Console version will quietly sit at the top 5th spot.

Uncharted's console lead this month further solidifies the popularity of Open World Adventure games in the Console platform in contrast to FPS on the PC.

Social and Mobile games are also included in the report even after the field’s steady decline over the past few months, with Mixi’s multiplatform Monster Strike taking the lead over SuperCell’s Clash Royale and Clash of Clans . It can be remembered that earlier this month SuperCell has already been acquired by the Chinese eCommerce giant Tencent in a USD 8.9 Billion acquisition deal, which aimed to expand Tencent’s video game influence in the global market.
