Looking at the VC239H’s design, it has a resemblance to the VX239H IPS monitors with the exception to the base stand; the VX series has a ring-like stand while the VC has a disc-like stand. It features a frameless design with a bezel thickness of 0.9mm, just 0.1mm longer than from the VX series (0.8mm), and most of its appearance are just identical that with the VX239H. One of the better additions to the VC239H is that it has screw holes hidden by the rubber pads behind the monitor which allows it to be mounted on metal brackets or other monitor mounts, this also means that the I/O port are now attached downwards to allow the monitor to be mounted on walls.

The package include some of the necessary cables for your computer (DVI and VGA cables) and its own power supply.

Gone from the VX239H was the touch sensitive buttons, and replaced with physical buttons below the monitor, it is pretty much easier to use the menu without the worry of accidental presses due to the sensitivity of the touch buttons. However the major problem with the VC239H was the button shortcuts for certain settings, like for example there is no shortcut for the volume control as it is located deep within the menu settings and it can be chore if you planned to use the built-in speakers or turn off the volume entirely. Speakers are found on the lower sides of the monitor and not that of a best quality, though similar with the VX series, it is advisable to use a separate speaker or headset to enjoy the audio.

As for other features, the VC239H has some that are also found on the VX239H; the VividPixel technology that enhances the sharpness, color and saturation of the images displayed, and the QuickFit scaling function that lets you preview files or documents in their actual size with just a single press of a hotkey on the monitor. New to the IPS monitor is the GamePlus function that provides a crosshair display in your monitor that can be used for shooters in guiding their aim and an on-screen timer that lets you record time for certain uses such as lap times, respawn time and others. This can be useful if you are playing game on full screen, but there are some handy apps available online that you can use while in full-screen or window mode as navigating around the GamePlus menu can be tedious just to toggle the feature on your screen.

The monitor is compatible to any gaming console that uses HDMI ports, we tried using the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 and there weren’t any issues of any flickers or input delays. This can be a good alternative for users who want a dedicated monitor for their gaming consoles if they don’t want to invest with an LED TV. The display presets found on the monitor provides better visual experience whether for gaming or video marathons, and they can be configured to the user’s liking. When set to its default preset, the image quality is still superb. After conducting benchmark tests with the PassMark monitor test, we are still happy with results in terms of color and contrast. It also has a response time of 5ms which is still a decent rate even for fast paced games, we disabled the vsync in some games to see if the monitor can handle the speed and so far there were very rare occasions of screen tearing though some of it are not noticeable.

Overall, picking the VC239H is a great choice. Almost the same quality that from the VX series monitors and with some added features such as the GamePlus found on ROG line of monitors. Though the only complaint that we can say about the monitor is the menu where some of the important features does not have a shortcut for quick access. But other than that, the VC239H is one great IPS monitor for both gaming and videos. So if you are planning to upgrade to an IPS monitor, pick this one now.
