The Legion definitely saved World of WarCraft.
After witnessing dreaded numbers back in 2015 for losing nearly half of its playerbase, World of WarCraft is on the rise among PC games once again as Blizzard’s massive multiplayer online role playing title hits 2nd place in the most played games for the PC for the month of September 2016.
Already surpassing Overwatch, WoW now sits right next to Riot Games’ League of Legends, which is an incredible feat concerning how it saw dreaded numbers just barely one year ago. The rising trend of WoW is perhaps credited to its new Legion update, which was highly received by gamers and critics for introducing new characters, weapons and updating the PvP system, and that which also allowed WoW to earn huge revenues for Blizzard as it also placed second in sales for August 2016.
The report, which was posted by Newzoo, also lists Mojang’s Minecraft as among the top 5 most played games on the PC for September, followed by Valve’s Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Blizzard’s other online title Hearthstone. Overwatch on the other hand, despite hitting the 20-million mark in number of registered players still sits steady at #6 while Valve’s other MOBA, one that is the closest competitor to top ranker League of Legends is at 18th spot, although the number of daily players are expected to rise this October right after the release of their season Battle Pass.
