The video game development and publishing giant which we all know for classic franchises and titles such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider, and “Oh god just please release the next sequel already” a.k.a Kingdom Hearts, is reaching a new personal, video game height as they are revealed to be working on what maybe their most important video game yet…about Idols.
Yup, Square Enix is totally going into Idol, or more specifically, Japanese Idol territory now with Aozora Under Girls because WHY THE HECK NOT. Now for those of you who have no idea as to what Japanese Idols are, think of girl musical pop groups but instead of being sexy and autotuned, these girls are marketed more for their pure smiles, and cute antics, and can ACTUALLY SING, if you want some solid examples you can check out groups such as μ’s and Aqours from the anime franchise Love Live.
So what will Aozora Under Girls be all about? Well, considering that it will be a musical idol game then it will most likely be a rhythm game which might share the same design as THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls mobile game series, and basing on the website features multiple rival idol groups, namely Twinkle Star, Genesis, Remuage and Valkyrie. And oh, Sora Tokui the voice behind Love Live School Idol Project’s Nico Yazawa is part of the main cast so nico nico yay?
And oh, here’s the promo video for the game too.
With no info for a Western Release, that is if they find some suitable publisher, Aozora Under Girls will most likely be a Japan only mobile title, although we all know that it’s not gonna stop you from download is since one of the official mobile game app stores for Japan, QooApp, is pretty much available worldwide.
The game’s beta phase concluded just last May so perhaps we can expect a release sometime very soon, in the meantime, enjoy this sample gameplay clip from the beta.
