Homegrown indie idol groups based on Japanese idols are picking up steam with all the controversy surrounding the local idol industry.

While many still have their eyes glued at what’s happening with AKB48’s supposed sister team MNL48, other local idol groups, mainly indie groups, are starting to make waves to fans of Japanese culture with some to make even appearance and debut at local anime conventions.

Although cover groups have already been around with the high popularity of anime and the influence of Japanese culture in the country, new local indie groups are bound to create their own facade, complete with original songs and auras that will hopefully reflect the true spirit of being a Japanese Idol. This upcoming Ozine Fest 2018, the stage will be handed over to Aidoru Sozai, one of the new local indie idol groups in the Philippines as they are bound to make their official debut.

In contrast to your cover groups, the seven-piece idol team composed of Jash, Aira, Vivi, Yanachii, Mikachu, Hayayan, and Saachan, aim to ” establish themselves as self-produced artists with original content” which means producing their own songs while at the same time also doing covers of existing, popular, idol songs and dances.

Together with Aidoru Sozai, another newly established indie idol group, CH4U, will also be making their appearance at Ozine Fest 2018, although, in contrast to Aidoru Sozai, the group will not be performing just yet, and will only probably be introducing their members. CH4U hasn’t officially revealed their members yet although they did unveil their virtual members, Cryptic and Holly.

Ozine Fest 2018 will be this coming April 28-29, 2018 in the SM Megatrade halls, SM Megamall, Mandaluyong City.
