The Gladius start off with a nice matt finish and black and gunmetal gray color scheme on the design, aimed for right hand users, though it may look like it’s an ambidextrous mouse; only with a slight curve going rightward. The Gladius also featured rubber grip pads on the sides along with the two additional buttons on the left part portion of the Gladius, giving added control for intense gaming and with the rubber grips for gamers with sweaty hands.

As for the size of the Gladius, some players with different griping styles may have some issues using the gaming mouse, as the size of the gaming mouse might affect the way some players grip on the mouse at the start, but after prolonged usage, players will be able to adapt to the Gladius’ design structure.

One of their highlights is the changeable mechanical switches, a pair of extra Omron switches are available on the package. Replacing the switches only requires removing the Teflon pads underneath the Gladius and removing the screws, though doing this process several times could damage the adhesive of the Teflon pads (an extra set of Teflon pads was also included on the package), a better approach would be better for replacing the switches.

It also comes with two different cables: the 1-meter regular cable and the 2 meter braided cable; giving more options to customize the gaming mouse and making it easy to bring it as the cables can be detached from the unit through the micro USB port and with a locking mechanism to keep it secured.

The Gladius comes with two dpi settings which can be toggled with the dpi switch just behind the scroll wheel. It may not be enough for some to only have two dpi settings, but it is sufficient in terms of practicality as you can easily switch to a different setting in a single touch. Another unique feature with the gaming mouse is having two separate mouse buttons, providing better precision on the inputs.

We tested the Gladius in several occasions, from gameplay tests to normal internet browsing. Some users may already feel at home with the Gladius but for some, it may take some time to get used to the mouse’s design if you are using a ‘claw grip style’ in handling a gaming mouse, but once you’re used to it, the Gladius is one of the excellent gaming mouse to arrive in the market for this year thanks to its Avago sensor, it provides a smooth and accurate control on your aiming in shooters and quick troop management on strategy games. It would have been nice if there is an adjustable weight feature to the gaming mouse for added weight customization.

As for the software, the ROG Armory provides better customizable options for your dpi settings as well as adjusting the rolling rate and acceleration/deceleration speed of the mouse movement, there is also a setting to calibrate the mouse depending on what kind of mousepad surface you have to fully optimize the movement control for the Gladius. You can even change the light setting of the mouse for those conscious with their cosmetic peripherals lightings, although it only features a single red color for its light. Macro configuration is also available for the Gladius, letting you add custom commands for specific uses depending on the application you will be using.
