Setting up a camp has an interesting twist, there are certain spots around Duscae where you can set up your campsite. This lets you rest up to restore your health and save, you will be able to consume food from the ingredients you purchased from shops or obtained from monster loot, consuming will grant you special buffs depending on the type of food you consumed, some may vary from increased EXP rate with improved stats, it is also recommended that you frequent your camp resting as this is the only way for you to level up your characters from all the EXPs you accumulated from battles.
In terms of visuals, the Luminous Studio really shows its potential, as it shows its impressive visual lightings, from particle effects to glowing lights in dark areas, there are also a ton of anti-aliasing effects in the game. Despite the resolution is at 1600×900 for the PlayStation 4 as some purists may complain, it still managed to show great detail from the grassy field to the icy caves. However the framerate tends to drop below 30 frames per second (around 25 fps) in some areas and during intense battles with multiples character on-screen, this would be understandable due to the open world structure, but hopefully this would be resolved in the final game.
As expected, the demo is meant as a teaser for what to expect in the final game, so don’t expect much from it as there will be some changes for the retail version, since after all, it is a demo. But it managed to give us a great impression that Final Fantasy XV would have an interesting twist from its predecessors, and hopefully it would be better.
