Bandai Spirits went Crazy with the MGEX Unicorn Gundam

Bandai Spirits just went overboard with the next-tier Master Grade kit.

Just when you thought the Perfect Grade was the best thing for a Gunpla to have LED lights, then they released the Real Grade Lighting Model for the Unicorn Gundam. But that still didn’t stop them from going over their limits.

The Master Grade Extreme or MGEX is their newest version of the MG variant, but with more gimmicks and of course, pricier than ever. Their first mobile suit to be receiving the treatment will be the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam Ver. Ka but with updated designs from known mecha designer Katoki Hajime that will make the unit more accurate from the anime version. The kit will include three Shield Funnels with Beam Gatling Guns from the Full Armor version and a caged hangar that is similar to the MG Unicorn Gundam HD Color + MS Cage set.

The biggest highlight of the MGEX version is the LED feature that is also found from the RG Lighting Model, the only difference is that the MGEX is fully articulated and transformable from Unicorn to Destroy mode as opposed to the Lighting Model being stationary and just in Destroy mode, it will also have a base where the cable for the LED strips are connected and can change the color from red to green.

There is no release date being announced at the moment but the MGEX Unicorn Gundam will be priced at (*gasp) JPY 23,000. If you feel that the price is just too painful for you but you want to own a Unicorn Gundam with a LED gimmick, you can go with the RG Lighting Model Unicorn Gundam at half the price.

So if you plan to order one, ready your wallets and contact your online hobby store for details.
