BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc. has just announced at Tokyo Game Show 2020 Online several upcoming game content updates for SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris, consisting of a series of free updates and a paid Major Expansion DLC to be released later for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC Digital via STEAM. A new teaser trailer featuring a preview of the first free update has also been released today.
Additional Story Free Update – “Ancient Apostles” Series Coming in 2020!
Each additional story in the “Ancient Apostles” series will focus on one of the characters from SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Lycoris, along with additional bosses and items added in each one of them.
Starting with “Additional Story Update #1 Sinon: The Reaper of the Woods”, with script written by Kana Akatsuki, author of “Violet Evergarden,” enjoy the original stories of the characters untold in the main story and revealed in several batches. Do look forward to more additional scenarios planned for future updates as well!
Paid Major Expansion DLC #1 – “Blooming of Forget-me-not”
The plot is written by Kana Akatsuki (“Violet Evergarden”) who also worked on the free update, and scenario by Matsuri Akaneya (“Alice reloaded Hello, Mr. Magnum”). A new story spun around a new field by these renown writers will add new elements to the main story, so do look forward to this episode.
New Additional Playable Characters – Game original heroines join the journey!
Heroines from the past SAO games will be added as free additional playable characters – planned to come in 2021!
In addition, the popular original heroine Eydis from the highly acclaimed mobile game SWORD ART ONLINE Alicization Rising Steel will be joining the battle! New costumes and sub-episodes for each heroine are planned to be added, so stay tuned for more details.
