Taipei Game Show 2022 Brings 140+ Games with You “GAMING FORWARD”

Taipei Game Show (TGS) 2022 is ready to kick off on January 22 and continue through January 25, 2022. Every day from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the exhibition will showcase over 140 games plus all sorts of latest gaming gear at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall1 (TaiNEX1), making it a guaranteed feast for the eyes of the visitors. Moreover, a special program called “Taipei Game Show ONLINE” is to be livestreamed every night to continue the excitement of the day. The B2B Zone and the Asia Pacific Game Summit online events will kick-off two days earlier to be held from January 20 to 21, 2022. The B2B Zone is packed with more than 300 companies and indie game developers from over 32 countries/regions, while APGS is featuring renowned speakers from all over the world including Shuhei Yoshida​, Head of Indies Initiative at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Atsushi Inaba, Studio Head and Hideki Kamiya, Chief Game Designer at PLATINUMGAMES INC. Another highlight not to be missed for industry professionals at APGS is the Metaverse Forum, which is a live (physical) event scheduled on January 24, 2022.

Cross-platform games livestreamed on the TGS eSport Arena

This year, more than 140 wonderful games from around the world are being featured at TGS, many of which are cross-platform titles that will definitely kick up the heat among gamers. Better yet, the live event on the show floor—TGS eSport Arena—is loaded with a schedule of action-packed tournaments and friendly matches every day, including “NBA 2K22” Taiwan Tournament Finals, “JUST DANCE 2022” Open Tournament, “VALORANT” TGS Finals, “League of Legends: Wild Rift” Semi-finals, “Legends of Runeterra” Semi-finals & Finals, and “Hundred Soul.” The upcoming fighting game “The King of Fighters XV” will also be debuted with live demos and exhibition matches. All tournaments and matches will be livestreamed on TGS’s Facebook page throughout the event.

Extensive content with incredible fun in Indie House and Board Game Wonderland

TGS has always been a wonderful opportunity for indie game developers to get up close to gamers and get direct feedback from them. This year at Indie House, over 45 indie games will be on display, including the much-discussed Taiwanese title “The Legend of Tianding,” the Freeze-Tag-inspired “Hunt-or-Haunt,” and some of the best titles from Austria, Denmark, and Hong Kong.

This year’s Board Game Wonderland features more than 50 board games from over 20 publishers. Gokids & Asmodee is to showcase “Pandemic: World of Warcraft – Wrath of The Lich King,” which combines “World of Warcraft, one of the world’s biggest game IP in history, and the popular board game “Pandemic.” Fayble International Enterprise CO., on the other hand, is bringing a trading card game called “Flesh and Blood” to the table.

The hype continues into the night with Taipei Game Show ONLINE

For the very first time, TGS is partnering with a YouTube video game show called “Play Soup”, plus the leading publishers such as the PlayStation, Bandai Namco Entertainment and SQUARE ENIX, to host a special livestream program online called “2022 Taipei Game Show ONLINE” every night starting at 6 PM(GMT+8), January 22-24.

The latest information on blockbuster titles and upcoming releases will be disclosed in the program. SQUARE ENIX, the world-renowned Japanese game studio, is bringing to the program the first-ever live gameplay demo of its upcoming mobile game “ECHOES of MANA” (scheduled to release in spring 2022). Its Producer Mr. Harita and Development Director Mr. Murata will be sharing the latest updates and behind-the-scenes stories about the game through video conferencing. Bandai Namco Entertainment, on the other hand, will send its game producer and developers to talk about their much-anticipated upcoming releases. Hosted by popular Taiwanese streamers, this special online program will be full of games and incredible fun, and definitely not to be missed by gamers.

The agenda will not be complete without indie games. Latest releases from indie game developers such as Vermillion Digital from Thailand, Red Nexus Games from Canada, Eremite Games from Poland, and PINIX and Toii Games from Taiwan will be covered in the show. Likewise, board games are not to be left out. The super-popular board game “MARVEL: SECRET FILES OF S.H.I.E.L.D.” will also be unboxed in the program.

For all viewers around the world to enjoy the program, the 2022 Taipei Game Show ONLINE will provide both Chinese and English subtitles throughout the program. In addition to the YouTube channel “do not NOW” and Twitch channel “TGSlive,” the program will also be broadcast through AfreecaTV, 17LIVE, and Huya.com for the very first time, giving viewers across Chinese-speaking regions, Korea, and Southeast Asia the best viewing experience.

B2B Zone starts earlier online while APGS and metaverse forum feature great speakers

This year, B2B Zone is hosted as a pure online (virtual) event with a series of business matchmaking sessions. Over 300 buyers and business users from nearly 30 countries/regions have enrolled in the Biz-Matching System. It is hoped that the GAME LINKER online showcasing platform, together with the Biz-Matching System, can help connect exhibitors to buyers and expand networking and business opportunities. In addition to the annual Taipei Game Show, the organizer also hosts smaller theme-based business matching sessions and provides other professional services all year round.

Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS) 2022 features both online (virtual) and live (physical) events. Online events will be held every day from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM(GMT+8), with an agenda of inspiring speeches offered by a tremendous lineup of speakers including Shuhei Yoshida​, Head of Indies Initiative at Sony Interactive Entertainment, Atsushi Inaba, Studio Head and Hideki Kamiya, Chief Game Designer at PLATINUMGAMES INC., Rock Zeng, Game Design at OK JOY, Even Chen, Head of Greater China at Xsolla, Tosca Lin, General Manager – Taiwan at now.gg, Waylon Ding, Lead Artist & Concept Artist at Underscore Game Studio, Angela Mejia, Studio Head at Clever Plays Studio, and Dylan Gedig, Founder of Red Nexus Games. The speeches will be broadcast with subtitles in both Chinese and English.

The live event Metaverse Forum is scheduled at 1:00 PM on January 24 at TaiNEX1. Professional speakers from ANDES, Jorjin, and PEGATRON will be sharing their insights on metaverse and how to get ahead in the game industry.

The much-coveted Indie Game Award 2022 has attracted 142 participants from 35 countries/regions to compete for the 7 awards. The final winners will be chosen among the 27 finalists by gaming media professionals from the world. Winners will be announced at 10:00 AM(GMT+8) on January 20 on the TGS’s official YouTube channel.
