The latest instalment in the series, Monster Hunter Wilds, is set for a simultaneous global release on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for PC Windows. In addition, a limited-time Open Beta Test has been announced today, allowing players to experience the game before its official launch.

From Friday, November 1, 2024, at 11:00 AM (GMT+8) to Monday, November 4, 2024, at 10:59 AM (GMT+8), players can participate on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam for PC. Even those who are not subscribed to PlayStation Plus on PlayStation 5 or Game Pass Core/Ultimate on Xbox Series X|S can join the Open Beta Test.

Additionally, an exclusive early access play period for PlayStation Plus members will take place from Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 11:00 AM (GMT+8) to Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 10:59 AM (GMT+8). PlayStation 5 owners subscribed to PS Plus are encouraged to use this opportunity.

In the recent Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase, Capcom revealed the latest game information, including monsters, fields, and the land’s inhabitants, which were showcased in the newly released Promotional Video.

New Field: Oilwell Basin

The new field where the Hunter’s investigation team arrives, Oilwell Basin,’ is a land where, as the name suggests, oil seeps and accumulates, and at times fierce flames rage. In this area, an unusual phenomenon occurs where intense fires ignite the oil slicks, known as “Firespring”.

Azuz, the Everforge

In Oilwell Basin, there is a crafting village that spreads out around a large fire kiln. The people of Azuz are skilled in processing bones, ores, and refining oils, techniques that have been passed down since ancient times. What kind of story awaits in this land of Azuz?

A mysterious monster, passed down in legends, known as the ‘Black Flame.’

Fanged Beast Ajarakan

It is characterized by a shell that has developed to cover its back. It becomes active during the abnormal weather phenomenon known as ‘Firespring‘ in ‘Oilwell Basin’. It rubs its shell together, causing it to glow red.

Brute Wyvern Rompopolo

This monster makes its lair in areas where oil sludge has accumulated deeply. It disperses toxic gas from its tongue and injects gas into the ground through the tip of its tail, causing explosions. Unique monsters with such adapted ecologies thrive in this environment.

Overview of the Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test

The Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Test includes three content types: ‘Character Creation’, ‘Story Trial,’ and ‘Doshaguma Hunt’.

Character Creation

In this installment, you can set body types, which increases the freedom of character creation (there will be no gameplay changes based on body type).

Additionally, character creation information from the Open Beta Test will carry over directly to the final version. During the beta period, you can create and redo your characters as many times as you like, so take this opportunity to create your favorite hunter and Palico.

Note: Progress in the game will not carry over.

Story Experience Quest & Doshaguma Hunt Quest

In the ‘Story Experience Quest,’ you can play through the beginning of the story, including cutscenes and a basic tutorial, leading up to the hunt for Chatacabra. Enjoy a seamless experience and immersion without interruptions.

In the ‘Doshaguma Hunt Quest,’ you will aim to defeat the Alpha Doshaguma that leads the pack.

In both quests, you can enjoy multiplayer gameplay by sending out an SOS Flare to connect with online players. If there aren’t enough players gathered, up to three NPC support hunters will join you to assist in the hunt, so be sure to take advantage of this feature.

By speaking with the handler, Alma, at the quest counter, you can make detailed settings regarding conditions such as the number of players in multiplayer. Whether you want to challenge the quest with four players or bring along a Palico and call in one NPC support hunter, enjoy the game with your preferred settings.

During the open beta test, it will be possible to register friends across different platforms (friend registration information will not carry over to the final version).
