In a period where storage solutions have been in another crisis, where supplies are scarce and prices are skyrocketing, building or upgrading your PC is a challenging task. It can be a challenge to find brands that will have a competitive price and performance. But that won’t stop new players from joining the fray in the world of storage solutions.

Enter MAXBY, a new brand that has joined the scene, that is aiming to compete in the digital storage market. Their initial product line already included Micro SD and SSDs in both SATA and NVMe. MAXBY pushes for an outstanding performance on their products with their FIT principle: Friendly, Trusted and Intelligent. They wanted to show that their storage solutions are great for everyday use, regardless of what activities are being done.

We got our hands on one of their latest SSDs, the MAX7200, to see how it performs in everyday use for gaming and online work.

Here’s the specs for the MAXBY MAX7200

  • Product type: PCIe SSD
  • Storage form: PCIe M.2 2280
  • Speed Level:   PCIe 4.0
  • Capacity: 1TB
  • Interface: M.2
  • Flash Type: TLC
  • Maximum Sequential Read Speed: 7200 Mbps
  • Maximum Sequential Write Speed: 6200 Mbps
  • Storage Temperature: -40~85
  • Operating Temperature: 0℃~70℃

Right out of the box, you get the SSD, the user manual and an M2 x 3mm screw. Adding the screw with the SSD should be a standard practice, as some brands tend to pack theirs without a screw, and when you add a new drive to your desktop, you don’t always have a spare screw.  The MAX7200 is the same size as any standard 2280 form NVMe SSDs, so it will be a hassle-free installation on your PC, laptop, or any compatible devices.

Though it only has a 1 TB storage capacity as an option, it’s already enough for your usual everyday PC use, especially for gaming. You can install a couple of open-world and first-person shooter games, plus indie titles and gacha games. And since the MAX7200 has PCIe 4.0 interface support, it can perform faster if your hardware supports it, giving an optimized experience and improving your productivity.

Now let’s check the performance. By the name itself, the MAX7200 promises to have a maximum sequential reading speed of 7200 Mbps. Running apps and games will be fast on a PC or laptop, including file transfers and load times.

With a reading and writing speed of over 6000 Mbps, this will be compatible with the PlayStation 5 if you are looking for an upgrade. Since the minimum speed requirement for an M.2 drive to run on the console is at 5000 Mbps, the MAX7200 will run well with ease. Booting games on the PS5 is just a breeze, starting from the dashboard up to the last saved game in just mere seconds, up to almost half a minute at maximum.

MAXBY’s MAX7200 is a good stepping stone for the company in bringing digital storage solutions. With a 1 TB storage capacity, it’s already enough for everyday use, such as for work and gaming.

This, along with its SD card and SATA SSD, brings a new option to the table for consumers to choose from. We look forward to MAXBY on their debut
