Local Anime cable channel Hero TV teams up with the one of the largest anime convention to host the Hero Face Off Cosplay Competition.
Last August 20 at the Restaurant 9501 at the ABS-CBN compound, a press conference was held to announce the said partnership. Present from the press con were Hero TV executive Jojo Estacio, Primetrade Asia president Irene Lloren, Cosplay personality and Hero TV Jock Myrtle Gail Sarrosa and World Cosplay Summit Philippines 2013 winner Erika Garbin.
During the press conference, it was revealed that the Hero Face Off competition will now be held at the Best of Anime 2014 event on September 21, 2014 at the SMX Convention Center. Now on it’s 5th year, Hero TV promises to showcase the ultimate cosplay competition experience in the country. The competition will have three categories: The Kids Squad (will be open only for kids), League of Heroes (group cosplay) and Face Off (individual cosplay). The judges for the Hero Face Off will consist of Myrtle Sarrosa, the competition will be hosted by My Hero Nation’s Kakki Teodoro and Mikoy Morales.
This isn’t the first time Hero TV collaborated to a giant pop-culture convention, last year they teamed up with Toycon for the said competition and the winner was brought to Japan to participate on the World Cosplay Summit.
The Best of Anime is one of the biggest anime conventions in the country and was organized by Primetrade Asia, started on 2010 at the SMX Convention Center where they continued to expand their offerings every year. One of Primetrade Asia’s biggest event was the Manila International Book Fair, which was been active for 35 years.
