Incredibly Strong Regional Winners across the Board Make the Final Champion Hard to Predict

The North American champion “Rise Nation” (formerly “Gecko OW”) was formed on August 27, 2016. Most of its members are former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive players. Although they experienced some ups and downs as they tried to adapt to Overwatch’s gameplay in early stages, they were able to win all the matches and 2-0’ed their opponents during the Americas Regional Finals. Rise Nation also won third place in the recently wrapped Route 66 Cup tournament. The power of this emerging team definitely grabbed the attention of the world. Their flex position player, IVlidnight, is especially worth noting, as he has incredibly accurate aim and is really strong on Widowmaker, Ana, and McCree. The major DPS player, Spirit, is well-rounded and brings a lot of pressure upon their enemies when he is on Reaper and Genji. Their McCree master, Xretzi, also contributes tons of damage for Rise Nation.

The European champion “Ninjas in Pyjamas” is a pure Swedish team. Two of its members, Zuppehw and Zappis, are also popular live-stream casters as well as top rankers of the game in Europe. Ninjas in Pyjamas only lost one point during the entire Europe Regional Finals in its match against “Misfits.” Against all other opponents, they showed incredible dominance and tactical capabilities. With 3-2-1 formation, Ninjas in Pyjamas successfully defended multiple waves of attack from their opponents during the Regional Finals. The performance of Zappis on Mei amazed everyone in the crowd, making them the strongest defense team.

The Asia Regional Finals proved that Korea is proudly the strongest nation in eSports, as five of the teams in the Regional Finals were from Korea. Among which, “KongDoo Panthera” fought all the way to the Semi-finals, where they were forced to battle head-on with their sister team “Uncia.” That was arguably the most exciting game during the Asia Regional Finals. Both teams were very familiar with each other’s strategies and strongest heroes. They both took one win after the first two maps and tied again on the Hanamura map. The winner had to be decided on the Lijiang Tower map in a tiebreaker. Panthera’s EVENMORE on Roadhog was a constant focus of spotlight. He contributed multiple critical kills even as a tank. In the end, Panthera took down Uncia by one point and advanced to the Finals, where they beat “DetonatioN Gaming Team 2” and won the Reigonal Championship. Capability-wise, KongDoo Panthera demonstrated excellent teamwork and tactical power. Its 2-2-2 formation generated the highest damage output. KongDoo Panthera was invited to play in the recent Nexus Cup tournament in China and walked away with the trophy with all win and zero loss.

World-Renowned eSports Team “Fnatic” Joins the Fight for the World Championship

Finatic is a leading European eSports organization established in 2004 with professioon teams in all popular games such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Overwatch, and more. Fnatic will be the invited guest to compete with other regional winners for the Championship in the Grand Finals of MSI MGA 2016. Fnatic has recruited some of the early core beta-testers of Overwatch. It showed outstanding performance during the U.S. Overwatch Open in September and successfully advanced with excellent scores in the North American Regional Qualifiers of DreamHack Winter 2016.
