Walt Disney Pictures will be releasing a new movie where the theme is video games, yep that’s right and it’s not just another video game themed movie that would be similar to the Tron movies (hero plays an arcade machine and gets trapped into the arcade’s video game world and save the day), but instead this new movie will focus on the arcade video game “bad guy”.
The movie is entitled Wreck-It Ralph, the story revolves on Wreck-It Ralph, the 9-foot, 643 pound villain of the game Fix-It Felix Jr. For years Wreck-It Ralph is doing the same job over and over until he finally grew tired of being a bad guy. So he escapes his game and travels to other video games so he can prove that he can also be a good guy.
Now what’s interesting with this movies is that there will be cameo appearances of popular video game characters, from the likes of Zangief, Chun-Li and M. Bison of Street Fighter to Eggman of Sonic The Hedgehog up to Clyde from Pac-Man. Probably you’re wondering how Disney managed to secure the IPs of these characters, but they sure do managed to land some approvals.
The movie is like Who Framed Roger Rabbit all over again (which features cameo appearances of popular cartoons characters).
Wreck-It Ralph will feature the voices of John C. Reilly, Jack McBrayer, Jane Lynch and Sarah Silverman and is directed by Rich Moore (The Simpsons and Futurama). It will be in theaters on November 2, 2012 in America.
