We witnessed the first ever HearthStone community challenge at the Imperium last February 8, 2014.DSC00247

The event started around 2:00PM with 30 participants present for the tournament, there are also Hearthstone spectators attended the tournament that are also enjoying. The first round of  the tournament had some delays due to the internet connection problems, but after it was resolved immediately.

The event was organized by the people at Imperium, helmed by Raphael Gancayco, with support by the HearthStone Philipines group.

The majority of the community that attended the event are card gamers from Magic: The Gathering while some are pro gamers of Blizzard games, more notably from Starcraft 2. I had the chance to chit-chat with some of the players, and based on their feedbacks, HearthStone was very easy to play, even if you have not tried any Tradable Card Games before, the mechanics is easy to learn, and of course hard to master.

After 4 hours of intense card fights, WaningMoon was declared the champion. You can check the bracket list for the results of the whole tournament, and for the highlights of each match, check out Imperium’s playlist from Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLQ1OsNBh6RpniYJi00_NvdWi6R_XJYFxW
