New Gundam Series Announced for 35th Anniversary

There will be two Gundam series that will be premiering in celebration of the 35th Anniversary of the most popular real robot franchise.

In the RISE- The World in Motion live stream event from Japan around this afternoon, it was revealed that there will be two all-new series to be airing for 2014 and 2015, the final episode of the Gundam Unicorn OVA is also included in the line-up for the 35th Anniversary celebration.

The 7th and final episode of Gundam UC was also featured and will be available on May 17, it will also feature StarRingChild by Aimer has the episode’s ending song

Gundam: Reconguista in G is one of the new series that is scheduled this fall, it was stated that the timeline will be Rigirudo Century, which is after the Universal Century timeline, and this will be directed by the creator of Mobile Suit Gundam himself, Yoshiyuki Tomino. Character Design will be handled by Kenichi Yoshida and Mecha Designs by Akira Yasuda, Osakabe Ippei and Yamane Kimitoshi, soundtrack will be handled by Kanno YuSatoru.

And finally the other new series will be Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, which is the manga adaptation of the original Gundam series, this will be released in 2015 in several chapters similar to Gundam UC.  The first chapter will take place in UC 0068, the scene on the trailer shows the assassination of Zeon Deikun, founder of the Repuiblic of Zeon, before it was known as the Principality of Zeon. You’ll be able to see a very young Char Aznable and Sayla Mass.

This will be directed by Yoshikazu Yasuhiko.

Also announced on the live stream was the planned life size statue for the 40th anniversary, which was titled as Real G Next Project.
