We had a look at some of the awesome creations of Gunpla enthusiasts at the Gundam Model Kit Contest 2014.
The Philippine leg of the said contest was held at the Annex Event Area in SM North EDSA, there were several categories that were open for newcomers and veterans from the young and old.
Those who joined the competitions will have their entries displayed at the event from May 10 to 18, 2014. Aside from the entries, there were several newly released model kits put on display including from the Gundam Build Fighters and Gundam Unicorn series. On the side of Gundam Unicorn, there were several limited edition model kits featured which were only available in Japan during the theatrical screening of the episodes.
You don’t just stare at the model kits, a ton of kits are put on sale with discounted price at the event, this also include limited edition kits that were also discounted. Aside from the display and merchandise on sale, you can join the gunpla caravan and build your kit on the spot for free, plus those with the best builds can bring home prizes. Fans didn’t went home empty-handed as they received freebies such as catalogs and decal for just tweeting and Instagraming about the event with the hastag #gundam.
On the last day of the event, Gundam fans get the chance to watch the final episode of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn which was premiered in Japan in the previous day. And the same gimmick with Japan, limited edition model kits of the Gundam Unicorn series were put on sale after the screening.
It was fun weekend for Gundam fans both for the series and model kits. We do hope that Bandai and Ban Kee Trading would host an exclusive and much bigger event soon as the Gundam community is getting bigger and more active.
