Anime/Manga-turned-Live-Action Movies You Should Watch in 2014

We still have Guardians of The Galaxy, Hercules and TMNT (if you still like anything that involves Michael Bay) on our must-watch list, but let’s not forget that there are some movies based from popular manga, then turned anime series coming out this year.

We have three (or rather four) movies that are based from hit anime/manga series, and mind you, these are all produced in Japan, so no more Dragonball Evolution bullcrap for everyone. Due to the very positive reception by the fans with the showing the first live action movie of Rurouni Kenshin, more and more live action movie Let’s take a look in some of the upcoming films to arrive in our local cinemas:

 

Black Butler (Kuroshitsui)

Director: Keiichi Sato, Kentarô Ôtani

Cast: Hiro Mizushima, Ayame Gouriki

Release Date: January 18 (Japan), July 23 (Philippines) *SM Cinema exclusive

In the original series, it was set on the 19th century, this time the movie takes place in the year 2020. Shiori Genpo is a descendant of the noble Phantomhive family and also leads the Funtom Corporation.  Shiori then formed a contract with Sebastian Michaelis to help her accomplish all of her tasks, including avenging her parents’ deaths. But in return, Sebastian will consume Shiori’s soul.

 

Lupin III

Lupin and his team (Daisuke Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko Mine) tries to infiltrate the massive fortress-like safe called the Ark of Navarone to steal the Crimson Heart of Cleopatra, where it was believe to give the possessor the power to control the whole world.

 

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno/ The Legend Ends

Cast: Takeru Sato, Tatsuya Fujiwara, Emi Takei, Munetaka Aoki, Yosuke Eguchi, Yusuke Iseya

The Legend Ends – September 13 (Japan), September 24 (Philippines)

After the events in the first movie, Kenshin Himura must fight against Makoto Shishio as he attempts to overthrow the current Meiji government. Kenshin will once again draws his sword that he vowed never to kill again in order to protect those who are important to him.
