Mobile dev giant HTC is not to be left out in the budding Virtual Reality technology as they reveal Vive
Rethink Reality, that’s what seems to be the motto for Valve and HTC in their joint development of a Virtual Reality headset that will be used for SteamVR.
Dubbed as the Vive, HTC’s virtual reality headpiece showcases 2 1200×1080 displays, gyrosensor, accelerometer, and laser position sensors. An addition to the VR kit is the Steam VR base station which is used for avatar motion controls within a 15-feet by 15-feet range. HTC is also featuring additional wireless controllers built for more complex game movement other than just walking within the Steam VR base station radius.
The HTC Vive consumer version is slated for release this year, with more details to be hopefully revealed during the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA.
