Finally, Star Ocean 5 is Square Enix’s Mystery Game


The popular Enix JRPG is back and is under developement for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.


Square Enix launched a teaser website for their next game project, which shows a April 15, 2015 date hinting of a special announcement for that particular day.

The scheduled date on the website was supposed to be a simultaneous announcement with Famitsu’s latest issue for the mystery game. Star Ocean 5 is now under development and will be available for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, tri-Ace will once again be teaming up with Square Enix in creating the game.

According to the post from Hachim Kiko, The full title will be Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithfullness and will take place on the planet Feycreed, which is 6,000 light years from Earth.


Some details of the main characters were revealed:

  • Fedel Camus (voice actor: Kaito Ishikawa) – The protagonist of the game, he specializes at fencing, and protects the order of his village.
  • Miki Sorvesta (voice actress: Nao Toyama) – The heroine of the game, she is the protagonist’s childhood friend, and loves him like an older brother.
  • Lilia  – A girl who lost both her memories and emotions.

Battles will be seamless and in real-time and your attack method changes depending on your distance with the enemy. There are still event scenes as well as ‘seamless events’ where enemies can attack you and if you and your party get captured during these events, it can change the outcome of the story as well as the ending.

Character design will be handled by Akira “Akiman” Yasuda; who is known for his artwork in Street Fighter II, III and Alpha series and mecha design for Code Geass and Gundam Reconguista in G, Shuichi Kobayashi will be the Producer and Yoshiharu Gotanda as the Director; who directed the Star Ocean series as well as Valkyrie Profile.

We can expect an announcement trailer tomorrow as they formally announce Star Ocean 5
