The upcoming Far Cry game is going backwards.

Not really in terms of gameplay and visuals, but more on the period set for the game. Instead of putting the story in an alternate present day world, Far Cry will be going back in time to the Stone Age, just right after the Ice Age, where dinosaurs are now extinct.

Far Cry Primal will tackle more in survival, the game will let you play as Takkar, a lone hunter who is trying to survive in the harsh lands of Oros. It is an odd choice for Ubisoft to take a prehistoric setting when the Far Cry series is more on guns and ultra-detailed visuals, but at the same time it could be a refreshing take for the franchise. It’s even possible that they are following the footsteps of Studio Wildcard’s ARK: Survival Evolved, though this game has some modern weaponry elements.

You can check out the trailer below and expect to see Far Cry Primal become available on February 2016.
