ASUS today announced the RECO Classic Car Cam. This in-car digital video recorder records high-quality Full HD 1080p video and captures clear images day or night, and in all weather conditions. It has a clip-on design and features built-in driver aids[1] like lane departure and collision warning systems.

Full HD 1080p HDR videos with emergency record function

ASUS RECO Classic Car Cam uses high-dynamic-range imaging (HDR) technology for clear recorded images in bright sunlight or dimly-lit environments. The RECO Classic is powered by an Ambarella chipset with an Omnivision CMOS sensor and supports up to Full HD 1080p recording at 30 frames per second (FPS).  It has an f/2.0 aperture, 140-degree wide-angle lens to capture views of the sides of the vehicle and the road ahead. Users can easily recognize license plates and traffic signs from the high-resolution, distortion-free recorded images.

The RECO Classic records over the earliest existing files should the SD card run out of space. In the event of a collision, the built-in three-axis G-sensor triggers the emergency record function, saving a minute-long video (30 seconds prior/after impact) and locking it down in a separate file. There is also a manual emergency record button, allowing the driver to save videos if he or she witnesses an accident. Users can save up to 10 emergency record clips without having to worry about recording over them.

Built-in driver aids

At speeds above 60km/h, ASUS RECO Classic Car Cam has a Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) that displays onscreen warnings and audio alerts if the vehicle veers outside road lane markings; while the Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS) notifies a driver if he is following another car at distances less than 5 to 7m.

Compact dimensions and easy set up

ASUS RECO Classic Car Cam measures 95 x 65 x 34mm and is easy to set up. The camera clips onto its bracket mount, with adhesive cable clips effectively hiding the 4m-long cigarette lighter adapter power cable along the edges of the windscreen.

The RECO Classic does not interfere with other in-car systems, and meets numerous global certification standards including the China Compulsory Certificate mark (CCC Mark), CE mark, and the Taiwan Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection.

AVAILABILITY & PRICING

ASUS RECO Classic Car Cam is now available in the Philippines for SRP Php 5,999.00 with Dynaquest, PC Worx, and TCA branches as its initial resellers. Please contact your local ASUS representative for further information.
