Finally, after years of getting snubbed by the World Video Game Hall of Fame, the 1991 SEGA release Sonic the Hedgehog, together with other game titles that made their mark in the gaming community found themselves inducted to the World Video Game Hall of Fame for the year 2016.

Sonic will join other classic games like Oregon Trail, Space Invaders, and The Legend of Zelda and popular game titles from well known franchises, The Sims and Grand Theft Auto III for this year’s Hall of Fame Inductees in the World Video Game Hall of Fame. These final inductees were chosen from an initial pool of 15 video games, recognized for their significant contributions to the video game industry, popular culture, and society in general, the recently inducted titles will be at the National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, USA
