World Cosplay Summit Philippines will hold this year’s national finals on July 2 at the first leg of the Japan Cultural Expo in SM City Davao. Eight teams hailing from different parts of the country will compete for the right to compete at the World Cosplay Summit championship in Nagoya, Japan.
The teams that have been selected are teams Cosaga and JBF from NCR, team Albay Otaku from Southern Luzon, teams Ace and Usaka Sumbag Bai from Visayas and teams Sakura Punch, Weapon & Mask Destruction and Starseeker from Mindanao.
Special guest cosplayers Reika and Cheru from Japan will come to the event for a meet and greet and serve as judges for the national finals. Aside from the stage activities, booths activities are also set.
Last year, the national finals was done in the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City at Hero TV’s “Face Off: The Ultimate Cosplay Battle” event in celebration of the cable channel’s 10th year anniversary, where Team Eurika was selected to represent the country last year.
World Cosplay Summit 2016 will begin in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan on July 30 with an event at the Laguna Ten Bosch resort, and the cosplay championship will be held on the weekend of August 6 and 7.
Voice actor Tohru Furuya, Comiket representative Kaoru Yasuda, manga artist Keishū Ando, Cure WorldCosplay manager Tatsumi Inui and last year’s champion Team Mexico will serve as judges for this year’s championship, which will be streamed live on NicoNico.
