Old and new fans will get to see the same characters of Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh as they work crime-related cases in modern-day Los Angeles. Their partnership doesn’t really go smoothly as Riggs is a reckless ex-Navy Seal who seems to be asking for death after the loss of his wife and unborn child, and Murtaugh on the other hand, is a cautious and by-the-book cop who just returned to work after a near-fatal heart attack.

In this TV series, the two LAPD detectives is portrayed by Clayne Crawford (Rectify) as Martin Riggs and Emmy® nominee Damon Wayans (My Wife and Kids, In Living Color). According to the producers, finding the perfect actors to play Riggs and Murtaugh (and live to the expectations set by award winning actors Gibson and Glover) has been the biggest challenge of the show. They even had to get the blessing Richard Donner who directed all four Lethal Weapon movies.

“We think that of all the challenges of remaking a show and remaking this iconic franchise, I would say the casting is what I’m most proud of. That you watch this show and you don’t think about Mel Gibson and Danny Glover at all. You just watch these two – and they’re amazing together on screen” said Matt Miller, one of the show’s producers.

If you’re someone who likes action shows with car chase, guns, blowing buildings and crime but have a mix of comedy into it, Lethal Weapon TV series actually just premiered its first episode last September 22, 2016 and will be available every Thursday, 8pm in Warner TV.
