Today marks the beginning of Overwatch’s second big content update, the Halloween event, happening now until November 1st on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Like the Summer Games that came before it, the event boasts over 100 items that can only be obtained with special Halloween themed lootboxes, obtainable from purchases or leveling up your account. Everything from skins to sprays is available, alongside a few balance changes and menu updates.

Quite a lot is changed to fit the festive mood, with small updates to every map to be just that little bit spookier, including a very impressive brawl called “Revenge of Dr. Junkenstein”, where four players must team up in a horde mode-style map to defeat the evil scientist and his massive army of Zombie Omnics, or, Zomnics.

One of the big differences this time around, compared to the Summer Games, is that Halloween content can be bought with in-game currency, though likely only during the event itself, and for triple the price of a similar-rarity item. This was likely done to alleviate the lashing fans gave Blizzard about the inability to do so during the Summer Games.

The other big thing of note is the much-speculated new hero, Sombra, while completely absent from the update, still has the “momentincrime” website, which hosts a sort of Sombra-related countdown, is nearing 90%, hopefully hinting at her inclusion in the game sooner rather than later.

With regular events like this, its safe to assume Blizzard will be supporting Overwatch for quite some time to come.
