The King of Monsters comes to Netflix.

Polygon Studio’s planned Anime adaptation of Japan’s most popular kaiju, Godzilla, has found its home on the streaming service Netflix with the announcement confirmed via Tweet from the show’s official Twitter page.

Initially revealed during August of last year, the Godzilla anime movie will be directed by Kobun Shizuno, known for the TV show Knights of Sidonia and numerous Detective Conan films, and Hiroyuki Seshita, while the movie’s screenplay will be handled by Gen Urobochi which is known for his work on Psycho Pass, Fate/Zero series, and Black Lagoon. The film will star some of Japan’s heavyweights when it comes to voice acting such as Yuki Kaji, the voice of Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan and Speed o’ Sound Sonic from One Punch Man, Takahiro Sakurai which is the Japanese voice of Cloud Strife in Final Fantasy and Suzaku Kururugi of Code Geass, and Mamuro Miyano, the voice of characters’ Setsuna F. Seiei from Gundam oo and Light Yagami from Death Note.

The film is slated for release on Netflix sometime later this year, but not before Japan takes the first bite at it first as Toho plans to release it in Japan first before moving towards the Netflix launch.
