Nothing beats a good ol’ Universal Century side story.

Let’s face it, every Gundam fan loves the Universal Century timeline most than any other timelines in the Gundam universe, and while our hunger for some good, old Universal Century story is currently being satisfied with the start of the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt, Sunrise obviously believes that it’s not enough as they unveil the next upcoming Gundam anime from the Universal Century timeline, Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis.

Based on the novel by Kojiro Nakamura, Twilight Axis is set months after the Laplace Box incident, taking place on UC 0096 and presumably after the events of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, and follows characters Arlette Almage and Danton Hyleg, as they investigate the remnants of the old Zeon asteroid base, the Axis, only to be tangled in an incident that they never imagined would happen.

The production crew for Mobile Suit Gundam: Twilight Axis is said to be composed of director Sejoong Kim, who previously worked on Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn RE:00096, Gundam Age and Gundam 00, with the story and design to be handled by Ark Performance. The Anime adaptation will be streamed this coming June 2017, and will (sadly) be part of the exclusive content that can be accessed by Gundam Fan Club Members.

Of course, together with this new anime, comes new Gunpla model kits as Bandai and Sunrise already unveil 2 of them, those being the main mobile suits, the AN-01 Gundam Tristan, AMX-011S Zaku III.
