Hype Up for Tekken 7 at REV Major Philippines

Bandai Namco, developer and publisher of the blockbuster video game franchise TEKKEN, has partnered with global streaming giant Twitch and local premier gaming destination and organizer of console gaming events PlayBook to bring REV Major Philippines, a TEKKEN World Tour Master Event and Fighting Game Major. The event will be taking place at the Power Mac Center Spotlight Circuit Makati on July 8-9, 2017 and will be featuring seven different fighting game tournaments including a Tekken 7 tournament for the TEKKEN World Tour

The TEKKEN World Tour is an international tournament series which is currently ongoing in three different regions around the world (Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific). By competing in the tour’s events within their respective regions, players have a chance to earn ranking points which will be tallied up on the regional leaderboards. The top 5 players of each region will be joining the EVO 2017 Tekken 7 champion in the grand finals to be held in the United States later this year.

Top Tekken players from other countries in the Asia-Pacific region have already joined REV Major Philippines including Japan’s Nobi, Yuu, and Take, all sponsored by Yamasa. The Echo Fox players JDCR and Saint from Korea have also returned after their attendance of the Rage Art Tekken 7 Launch Tournament, also held in the Philippines. Despite these intimidating opponents, the Philippines Tekken community is prepared to defend the land with local players Alexandre “AK” Laverez who reached Top 8 in esports tournaments such as King of Iron Fist 2013 and 2016, and Andreij “Doujin” Albar who placed second in the Rage Art tournament earlier this month eliminating Echo Fox’s Saint in the process.

“We are all very excited for REV Major Philippines and with this event, 2017 is shaping up to be a banner year for the Philippines fighting game community. Being chosen by Bandai Namco as a venue for their master event is an honor and it makes us feel incredibly happy that they now acknowledge the huge Tekken community of our country. The world got to see the talent that our players have in the recent Rage Art event, and now we are proud to show the world more of it in REV Major Philippines.” says Richard Brojan, CEO and owner of PlayBook.

REV Major Philippines will be featuring other fighting games namely: Street Fighter V, Injustice 2, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator 2, King of Fighters XIV, Super Smash Bros 4 for Wii U, and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Each game will have their own tournament during the event.
