AsiaPop ComiCon Manila 2017 is Hyped and Here’s Why

It’s going to be a weekend full of geek awesomeness.

This weekend will another epic time for geeks, as AsiaPop ComiCon Manila 2017 will be bringing more fun as the biggest pop culture event in the country. Happening on August 25 to 27 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. All things comic books, TV series, movies, cosplay and more will be at AsiaPop ComiCon Manila, and we share you some details on what to expect on this hype.

 

The Superstars of Movies and Series are Here

Their list of celebrities are from major characters of mainstream movies or TV series, and AsiaPop is serious when they are bringing big guns, as these aren’t some B-list actors or those who just appeared in a single episode on a few second cameo on a movie. These include Ray Fisher (Cyborg from Justice League) and Tyler Hoechlin (Superman in the Supergirl TV series and Derek Hale from Teen Wolf) who will be appearing at the event to talk about their upcoming projects and their experience in these superhero movies. Then are some of the Stranger Things casts from Netflix who will be there as guests, these include┬áNoah Schnapp, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink.

 

More Entertainment Guests and Influencers

Aside from celebrities, there are also big guests from the pop culture scene, may it be for JPop, anime or video games. They got the legendary Shoji Kawamori; the creator of the Macross series and involved in mecha designs for some popular series, then there is also Serena Kozuki who is a power pop idol singer who is know for her ‘Shake the DiCE’ song. In the world of gaming, we got Gaku Space who is known to voice the cyborg ninja Genji in the popular Overwatch shooter game and played as the young Gouki for the Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist web series. As for the world of blogging, there will be influencers such as Cha Ocampo, Janina Vela and Patricia Averilla that will be present to share their stories and adventures.

The Comic and Vinyl Artists are Back!

Some of the big guns in the comic book industry will be making presences once more at APCC Manila. Local talent Whilce Portacio will be back once more to share some of his creations and along him will include Alan Quah, Carl Potts and Rodney Ramos. Well-known illsutrator Stanley ‘Artgerm’ Lau will be also at APCC where he will have a workshop to showcase his talents to aspiring illustrators. And the world of vinyl toys wouldn’t let themselves be put out from the spotlight, Simone Legno will return to bring more of his Tokidoki creations, we also got local vinyl artist Quiccs who will showcase his mecha-themed toys and Jason Freeny with with bizarre yet amazing figures.

More Epic Cosplays

The event won’t be complete without some of the amazing cosplayers. Local APCC mainstays Alodia Gosiengfiao and Myrtle Sarrosa will be there once again to showcase the The CAGE cosplay competition along with Jin (Behind Infinity) to join them as judge who will also be hosting a workshop about cosplay, and more international cosplayers will be joining them as well such as Haiden Hazard, Pion Kim and Canvas Cosplay.

Awesome Event Activities and Booths

A convention is not complete without any epic attractions. APCC will be bringing Hall M once again to give Marvel fans some sneak peeks of the upcoming movies, series and games from the Marvel franchise. There is also a massive Netflix booth that fans can check out, we are guessing that a lot of Netlifx originals will be featured there. Wrestling fans will have a great time as Philippine Wrestling Revolution will have a 3-day performance to wow the crowd. And what is a major pop culture convention without awesome booths from their sponsors and exhibitors like Magic: The Gathering, TV5, Omen by HP, Predator, Filbar’s, Cignal and more . You can interact on their mini games and bring home some goodies, there are a lot of things that you can do when you explore the area. And don’t forget to check out the Creative Circle as some of the indie artists will showcase their artworks and creations.
