DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is a show chock-full of characters. Thought this might help you get acquainted with a few characters that add to the adrenaline of the show. Below are five characters from the show and some facts about them that you might be interested to know. Who knows, you may even discover your new favorite DC hero?

Rip Hunter

In the Arrowverse, Rip Hunter is a time traveler on the hunt for Vandal Savage, the murderer of his wife and son. In the DC Universe (DCU), he is more than a time traveller out for revenge. Several iterations throughout DCU’s history show him as the go-to man for time travel. He even fought alongside Superman in one timeline, and with The Green Lantern in another, among other team-ups.

Firestorm

Before appearing on the show as a member of Rip’s gang, Firestorm has made a number of appearances throughout the DCU history, having his own titles beginning with Firestorm, the Nuclear Man in 1978. He was a member of the Justice League of America, being recruited by Batman into the team in one incarnation of the universe.

White Canary

Did you know that Sara Lance as the White Canary was actually created specifically for the show? While there is a DCU character that shares the name with her, the former is actually a villain and has a completely different story than hers. Sara Lance still has connections to the DCU, though; the Arrowverse White Canary takes plot and character elements from DCU’s heroine Black Canary, which is also the sister of the villain White Canary in the comics.

The Atom

Ray Palmer as The Atom is notable for being one of the first characters to be introduced in the Silver Age of Comics. Arrowverse Atom is similar to DCU’s in that they’re both scientists, although the latter mainly uses his size alteration abilities to carry out his heroic deeds, while the former uses a robotic armor, called the A.T.O.M. Exosuit, with shrinking being only one of the suit’s capabilities.

Vandal Savage

Vandal Savage is more than just arch-nemesis to Rip Hunter. In the comics, he is a villain with influence on significant events that shaped the history of humanity ever since time began. An immortal, a genius, and an excellent close-combatant, he is one of the most prominent villains in the DCU. In 2009, he ranked 36th in IGN’s list of the Greatest Comic Book Villains of All Time.
