The new special assignment added in this update will lead you to the New World’s most recent discovery: Stygian Zinogre!

The Stygian Zinogre special assignment is available after finishing the main story of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, unlocking the volcanic region in the Guiding Lands, and then speaking with the Seeker in base.

All-new weapons and armor to craft from Stygian Zinogre materials!

Weapons

Armor Set: Stygian Zin α+ and Stygian Zin β+

These new armor sets feature high levels of the Latent Power skill just like the Zinogre α+ and Zinogre β+ armor sets, but otherwise have a completely different set of skills!

 

New Guiding Lands region, Tundra Region!

You will meet monsters including Barioth and Viper Tobi-Kadachi in this newly added Tundra Region. Investigate this region to get rare materials!

 

Tempered Ruiner Nergigante

When health is reduced, powerful prickles will appear on its body.

With its strong recovery ability, it will certainly be a formidable monster to hunt.

Event Quest: “The Survivor”

Available (HKT): 8 a.m. 13 Dec 2019 – 7:59 a.m. 10 Jan 2020

Conditions: MR 24 or higher

Locale: Hoarfrost Reach

Objective: Hunt a Stygian Zinogre

Obtain materials to forge the Shield-Weaver+ full armor set and upgrade to the Adept Stormslinger light bowgun!

Remember to craft the new Frostclaw α+ Palico full armor set and the Forgefire α+ Palico weapon as well.

 

Event Quest: “Firebreak”

Available (HKT): 8 a.m. 27 Dec 2019 – 7:59 a.m. 10 Jan 2020

Conditions: MR 24 or higher

Locale: Elder’s Recess

Objective: Hunt a Savage Deviljho

Get materials to forge the “Banuk α+” armor, which is modeled after the armor that members of the Banuk tribe wear in Horizon Zero Dawn. The Banuk α+ armor has 5 distinct parts, so it can be mixed and matched with any other armor of your choice!

Another than the above quests, the Horizon Zero Dawn Special Collaboration quests previously released in Monster Hunter: World, will be live again as well! Available until 7:59 a.m. 10 Jan 2020 [HKT].

 

Two Fests at Once!?

In Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, you’ll be able to visit the Winter Star Fest in Astera, or an all-new seasonal event, the Holiday Joy Fest in Seliana! Visit both bases to experience twice the amount of seasonal celebration!

Seliana Fest: Holiday Joy Fest

The Seliana Gathering Hub has been decorated with an Asian flair!

Collect “VIP Gratitude Ticket” to craft armor set “Oolong α+”! The Palico equipment is also full of Asian taste!

Obtain the new item “Snowman” to start a snowball fight with other hunters!

 

Monster Hunter: World Two-Year Anniversary Event coming on 24 Jan 2020!

To celebrate two years since the release of Monster Hunter: World, you can enjoy two different seasonal events in the Gathering Hubs—the Appreciation Fest in Astera, and the Grand Appreciation Fest in Seliana!

Lots of event quests will also be available, which you can complete for materials to craft all kinds of unique weapons and armor!
