2022 was the year when the Shin Era was created. Shin Japan Heroes Universe (S.J.H.U.) is a dream collaboration between the four titles – Shin Godzilla, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time, Shin Ultraman, and SHIN KAMEN RIDER – which launched as a joint initiative by Toho, Khara, Tsuburaya Productions, and Toei.

The Shin Era brought together these four great Japanese heroes, which legendary creator Hideaki Anno had spearheaded. A meeting between the four involved companies was held in 2021, at which the project was launched with the full cooperation of all parties and the agreement of Anno himself.

The feature films that form the core of the project are Shin Godzilla (2016), where Anno was the writer and co-director; Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (2021), where he worked as the writer, co-director, and producer; and Shin Ultraman (2022), for which he was writer and co-producer. He also wrote and directed the recently released SHIN KAMEN RIDER, which aired in cinemas in Japan in March 2023.

The project’s launch has been celebrated by the involvement of two other key creators in the constituent series, with the promotional visual teaser image drawn by Mahiro Maeda, and the official logo designed by Yutaka Izubuchi.

Collaboration with YOKO TAKAHASHI’s New Single

A collaboration with YOKO TAKAHASHI, a Japanese singer best known for her Neon Genesis Evangelion theme song works, has also been confirmed for SD Shin Kamen Rider Rumble.

Her new song, “Crime and Punishment – Those Who are Unwilling to Pray” (music by TOSHIYUKI OMORI, lyrics by YOKO TAKAHASHI), is featured as the background music for the added stages in the game’s DLC.
