Gundam Build Series Celebrates 10 Years with the Build Metaverse Special – Mecha Fridays

The special will have 3 episodes and will feature familiar and new faces, and more Gunpla!

It’s been ten years since the first Gundam Build Fighters anime that continued to spread the love of Gundam plastic model kits, or nowadays called Gunpla, as how Bandai Namco wants to label it. It’s more of a spin-off series rather than an all-original series where it brings all of the popular mobile suits from different series with the central focus of building model kits for a competitive battle. The Build series wasn’t their first attempt at pushing this concept with Model Suit Gunpla Builders Beginning G in 2010, it was more of a test run to see if the Gundam fans would love to see a Gunpla-focused show along with model kits that have different versions of existing mobile suits. Gundam Build Fighters aired in 2013 followed by its sequel Gundam Build Fighters Try in 2015. The Build series continued with Gundam Build Divers focusing on an MMO theme and premiered in 2018 followed by its sequel Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE in 2019. There were mini-episodes of dream matches of different Gunplas called Battogue premiered in 2017 for the Build Fighters version and in 2020 for the Build Divers version.

Gundam Build Metaverse will have a whole new story and is set a few years after the events of Build Divers Re:RISE, where the Metaverse world was created for Gunpla. New character Rio Hojo dives into the Metaverse as he learns about the world of Gunpla building with the help of Seria Urutsuki while learning how to do Gunpla Battles from the Masked Lady.

The 3-episode special will premiere in October and will be streamed on Gundam.info and its official YouTube channel.

And of course, the Build series wouldn’t be complete without any new Gunplas being released, just recently at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, Bandai Namco unveiled the new model kits
