PLAYISM is proud to announce that Momodora: Moonlit Farewell, the culmination of the Momodora series of Metroidvania games by Bombservice, will be released on Steam on January 11, 2024.

Momodora: Moonlit Farewell is the culmination of the Momodora series, and takes place 5 years after the events of Momodora III. Momo, a high priestess of Koho Village, is tasked to set off on a journey to save the world from demons, summoned by the ringing of a mysterious bell. Explore a fantastical world, purify demons with flashy attacks and Sigils, and uncover myths untold.

The Momodora series is a series of 2D exploration-heavy action games developed by the indie developer Bombservice since 2010. There have been 4 entries to the series so far, and it’s known for its gorgeous pixel art and quick, satisfying action. The previous game, Momodora: Reverie Under the Moonlight, has received critical acclaim, selling over 800,000 copies worldwide.

This newest entry to the series is a culmination of all the know-how the developers have accumulated over so many years of the Momodora series, and it’s designed to be enjoyed by both series veterans and newcomers alike.

A Metroidvania with Gorgeous Pixel Art and Animations

Every stage you’ll explore is drawn in meticulous pixel art, and every character moves smoothly and dynamically with their animations. The visual effects have also been improved from previous games, bringing the mystical and enchanting world of Momodora to life.

Use the Sigil System to Customize Your Run

You can obtain “Sigils” from shops, exploring the map, or from certain events. Effects range from strengthening attacks or healing to summoning magic swords to smite your enemies.

Blood-Pumping Boss Battles

On your journey, you’ll encounter all sorts of formidable bosses. Use your attacks and Sigils wisely to defeat them all. Some of them are gigantic, so make sure you’re prepared!

Use Difficulty Settings to Explore the World the Way You Like

You can pick freely between the casual, lighthearted “Light” difficulty if you want a more laid-back experience, or the “Normal” difficulty if you’re looking for a challenge.

The Light difficulty also includes a toggleable Adaptive Difficulty feature that strengthens your character every time you fall in battle.
