Wasabi is a TV drama-style horror thriller adventure game set in 1990s Azumino City, Nagano Prefecture. Players take on the role of detective Ryuhei Kuroshima as he pursues the truth behind a terrifying series of murders. Investigate crime scenes, gather evidence, and conduct intense interrogations while carefully reading the expressions and reactions of each suspect. As the investigation progresses, the case begins to reveal an unsettling connection to a cult, gradually exposing a nightmarish truth hidden beneath everyday life.

Follow the Trail of Truth Through Brutal Crime Scenes

Every investigation begins at the scene of the crime.

As Detective Ryuhei Kuroshima, you’ll comb through gruesome murder sites and unsettling locations in search of clues. Examine bloodstained rooms, recover murder weapons and personal belongings, and carefully study the condition of each victim to piece together what really happened.

But solving these cases won’t be as simple as collecting evidence. Contradictions hide in plain sight, crucial details are easily overlooked, and some secrets remain beyond the reach of conventional detective work.

Only by harnessing the mysterious power known as “Wasabi” can you expose what lies beneath the surface and draw closer to the terrifying truth behind the case.

Read the Suspect’s Words, Expressions, and Silence

Present the evidence. Expose the contradictions.

By using the evidence and information gathered during the investigation, players will interrogate suspects and pursue the horrifying truth behind the murders. It is not enough to simply listen to their answers. Players must also pay close attention to the changes in their facial expressions, gestures, and behavior to uncover cracks in their testimony.

However, cornering a suspect too aggressively can be dangerous. It is crucial to read their psychological state and carefully navigate the interrogation. Furthermore, by using the mysterious power of “Wasabi,” players may even draw out secrets buried deep within a suspect’s mind.

The key to reaching the truth lies in your powers of observation and deduction.

An Unsettling Vision of 1990s Japan, Brought to Life with Unreal Engine 5

With photorealistic visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5, Wasabi portrays a rural Japanese city in the 1990s with both realism and unease. Nostalgic streets and buildings, the oppressive atmosphere hanging over the crime scenes, and abnormalities that gradually seep into everyday life… all draw players deeper into the world of Wasabi.

Suspects also display realistic expressions and gestures, conveying subtle emotional shifts that heighten the tension of each interrogation. As a criminal investigation intersects with supernatural horror, including the shadows of vengeful spirits and a cult, players will experience an ever-deepening sense of unease and fear as they approach the truth.
