BetaDwarf and SQUARE ENIX COLLECTIVE debuted a new trailer for VAULTBREAKERS and announced that a free demo for the game is available now on Steam.
VAULTBREAKERS is a top-down, high-stakes extraction action-RPG that can be played solo or with friends in PvE & PvPvE modes. Players fight challenging bosses in heroic brawler combat, explore a dynamic world that reacts to their actions, reclaim lost relics and … escape!
For VAULTBREAKERS, developer BetaDwarf joins forces with the re-established SQUARE ENIX COLLECTIVE, a global division of Square Enix Ltd. that provides funding, investment and publishing support for independent developers. SQUARE ENIX COLLECTIVE is inviting project proposals and pitch submissions for games of all genres created by studios of all sizes, focusing on fostering sustainable, long-term partnerships where developers retain creative control of their games.
The free demo will let players explore a section of the game’s first map and follow a questline as one of two playable Vaultbreakers: Nymera, an Elf ranger that focuses on ranged combat, and Bjornir, a mighty warrior that specializes in frozen attacks and durability. The titular Vaultbreakers are powerful Champions, tasked with retrieving legendary Artefacts from Vaults that have fallen from an ominous, floating island called the Dragonvault.
.
Recovering the Artefacts is the only way to open a portal and infiltrate the island itself. The demo’s quests guide players toward their first Vault, culminating in a challenging boss fight to break it open. The Demo offers up to seven hours of gameplay, playable solo or in co-op with up to two other players, across two PvE difficulty settings.
The full game will also include PvPvE and five playable heroes. The three characters not playable in the demo will be available during the upcoming Alpha PvPvE Playtest on Oct. 15.
