For a major game like Inquisition, you will immediately feel the responsibility of handling a large faction under your belt, to the point that you are tasked to strengthen your forces as to improve your Inquisition’s standing in the long term, which includes customization of items, recruiting agents, capturing forts and keeps, and performing various quests to help out villagers and bystanders, eventually influencing the position of the Inquisition in the long run. Being said, you are also tasked to assign and accomplish missions through the war room, with the option of choosing how you approach certain situations is the best approach to finishing said missions. As this is affected by real world time, you can freely go about your own business while waiting for the missions to finish. And of course, like its predecessor, how you deal with your companions, as well as the decisions you make, will greatly impact the way you play the game, as well as the outcome of your story. Romance; a Bioware staple, makes its return, where you get to decide (through your actions) who you want to be romantically involved with as the story evolves. So with much story to deal with for one person, there is a sense of personal accountability involved, and your actions have as much of an impact as your words. What happens to your world by the time the story ends will once again be on your shoulders.

Those who have played previous Dragon Age installments will feel right at home for the most part. The action-oriented battle aspect of the game remains intact, where you will get to control your main character and your companions as you fight your way through various oppositions while you navigate the enormous lands. You will also have the option of making use of the tactical view in order to map out the situation and choose how you will approach your enemies. You can always downright destroy your enemies head-on, but in cases like boss fights and challenging dispositions, tactical view will enable you to direct your party’s actions before finalizing how you defeat the enemy. You are rewarded greatly for planning your means to dismantle your enemies instead of engaging them head-on, such as leading enemies to traps or hitting different, specific abilities for a given enemy at a time. With four skill trees per class, there are so many combinations you can choose from, depending on your preferred play style.

And if you are not in the mood to go at it alone, Inquisition offers a new multiplayer mode, where you and three other players can go together using one of many different classes in order to progress through various dungeons and locations, all the while collecting loot and vanquishing enemies for the most part. From there, you can collect new weapons, upgrade your gear, learn new skills, and in the process, perhaps meet new friends along the way.

When you look back at the games that would change the course of Bioware’s history and how it will define future games, Dragon Age: Inquisition will easily come to mind as one of those games. If you are prepared to waste many hours of your life and engross yourself in an epic RPG experience, especially for those who own the newer generation consoles and badass PC rigs, you will really want to consider picking this up.
